Baked Goat Leg is everything you’re looking for on a family dinner night. It’s baked, crippling with flavours and just the most wholesome. When you’ve had enough of Turkey and your usual rotisserie chicken, you can switch things up with this lip-smacking, irresistible baked goat leg. You wouldn’t have it any other way again!

What makes Baked Goat Leg healthy?

As you can already tell, the choice of protein here is goat meat. Goat meat, having more protein and less fat than lamb, is considered to be leaner and overall a healthier choice, especially for people with cardiovascular issues. Goat Meat is also high in Vitamin B2 and E as well, along with some minerals. In the recipe of Baked Goat Leg, we use tallow and ghee which are good fats so you’re body is not bumped out of ketosis.

Ingredients to make Baked Goat Leg

2.25lbs Goat Leg

2 tbsp Yogurt, heaped

1 tbsp Paprika

1 tsp Turmeric

1 tbsp Ginger Paste

1 tbsp Garlic Paste

1 tbsp Black Pepper Powder

1 tbsp Coriander Powder

1 tbsp Cumin Powder

1 tbsp Garam Masala

½ cup fried onions, crushed (optional)

1 lemon, juiced

1 tbsp Ghee or Butter

Salt (to taste)

Orange Organic Food Color (optional)

Steps to make Baked Goat Leg

Step 1 : Wash the goat leg thoroughly and make deep gashes along the leg.

Step 2 : In a bowl, to the yogurt add all the above listed ingredients and combine to form a mixture.

Step 3 : Cover the goat leg in the marinade mix, making sure the mix reaches inside the gashes as well.

Step 4 : Place the goat leg in a large dish and cover it with a cling film and put it in the refrigerator for at least 24 hours to bring out an epitome of delicacy.

Step 5 : Let the leg rest at room temperature for about an hour before baking.

Step 6 : Preheat the oven at 400°F.

Step 7 : Place the goat leg in a baking dish and add ½ cup of water and put it in the oven for 45 minutes.

Step 8 : Flip the leg after 45 minutes and bake again for another 30 minutes.

Step 9 : At this point you can add vegetables of your choice to the baking dish if you’d like and flip the leg to bake for another 30 minutes.

Step 10 : You will know the goat leg is done when it’s beautifully charred. 

How to store Baked Goat Leg?

You can slice up the meat of the Baked Goat Leg and store it in an air tight container for up to 2-3 days. Any longer is not recommended.

What to pair with Baked Goat Leg?

You can pair Baked Goat Leg with chickpea salad or any other salad of your choice. It goes amazing with Keto-Naan and a green dip.
